Skye Cuillin Trip

May 9-11 2013.

To climb the western most Munro Sgurr na Banachdich, and the next top Sgurr Dearg.  With an optional ascent of the Inaccessible Pinnacle, for the adventurous.  Sgurr Dearg is a 'plateau' top adjacent to the In Pin affording grandstand views of the brave!  There are alternatives for those not wishing to go that high.

This will be an ascent through Coire Banachdich then along the ridge to Sgurr Dearg.  The order depending on how busy the hills are!

We have 2 of 4 persons rooms and 1 of 2 persons room and 1 of 1 person room, in the Broadford YH.

As before self-catering.  Packed lunches for the climb ready before we go may be a good idea.  All meals extra.  Continental breakfasts available (presumably book the night before) and packed lunches if necessary.

Approx 650km driving involved.

Following a suggestion departure on 9th will be 10:30 on the 9th.  This will give us a chance to sample the delights(?) of Broadford before we can get into the hostel.  Return on 11th by (very) app 14:00.  Lunch stop at Dalwhinnie both journeys.

I'm not expecting snow of any significance but bring along crampons, spiders and ice-axes!  With the weather it should all have gone by now but it can still get cold and icy at height.

I'll do a pick up on the way, Anne 10:00, Ian, Hugh & Pat, app 10:15, Jean & Marjory app 10:20, Hanne app 10:25, unless you tell me otherwise!  Then Wellmeadow car park at app 10:30.

As we are taking climbing gear with us we do not need multiple sets of emergency gear.  Only one group shelter and one large first aid kit needed.  Personal first aid still required along with other normal gear.
