Pitcarmick Loch. We saw on the way round, a pair of Sika stags, fox moth
caterpillars, green tiger beetles, roe deer and golden ringed dragonflys, just
to name a few of the readily identifiable species. 29/7/10

Carn a Gheoidh (975m), Schiehallion (1083m - just visible), Glas Tulachean
(1051m), Carn an Righ (1029m), Beinn Lutharn Mor (1045m)

Four of the nine 4000ft hills visible in 1 shot. Bod an Deamhain (Devil's
Point (for Queen Victoria's blushes actually meaning Devil's Penis) - 1007m the craggy looking slope backed hill in the distance) looking puny
in front of Cairn Toul (1291m #4) and Braeriach (1295m #3) to the west of the
Lairig Ghru; with to the east, Ben MacDui (Beinn MacDuibh - 1309m #2), Derry Cairngorm (1155m),
Beinn Mheadhoin (pr. ben vane - 1182m), Cairngorm (1245m #6), and on the far right Beinn a
Bhuird (1197m), just to name the most obvious (taken from Carn Aosda
at only 917m high). The fifth 4000ft hill Sgorr an Lochan Uaine (sharp
peak of the little green loch or Angel's Peak - 1258m) is behind Cairn Toul, the four others are around Ben
Nevis. 18/2/10 Note:
the average height of those visible 4 above at 1285m is higher than the Ben
Nevis 4 at 1255m. This is probably the reason why Ben MacDui was long
considered to be the highest hill in Britain until the advent of more precise
cartography.
Beinn a Bhuird again with Ben Avon (with the tors - 1171m)
18/2/10
Carn an t-Sagairt Mor (with remains of a Canberra on it - 1047m), Cac Carn Beag (the summit of Lochnagar - 1155m), Carn an Tuirc (Cairn of the
boar - 1019m), and just visible on the right Cairn of Claise -
(1064m) 18/2/10
